#1
Hi Internet friend,
Welcome
to another “pure content” tip where each
week you will uncover hot new tips and techniques that will
help you build and grow your online business so you
can finally start making money online!
Wow.
The first month of 2006 is almost gone - where does all
the time fly?
Time!
Now
there’s something that we could talk about for hours
– if we had the time :-)
Seriously
- for most people ‘time’ is one of the key reasons
for starting an online business. But it’s also the
one reason why most people struggle to make it work.
It’s
a catch 22 isn’t it?
You
may have decided to start an online business because you
wanted to create extra time for yourself so that you had
the freedom to do what YOU wanted, WHEN
you wanted.
But
you quickly realised that time is also your enemy,
as there just isn’t enough of it in a day to do what
you need to do to build your business - particularly if
you’re like most people and you also have a regular
job to contend with.
So maybe
you’re at stage of wondering whether all this is really
worth it. Can you really earn enough to justify the time
you’re ‘wasting’ trying to get your business
off the ground?
Before
we answer this question, here’s some quick stats from
Forrester Research that may surprise you…
-
in 2005 more than one Billion people went online…
- more than 250 billion searches were done…
- total online sales accounted for over $170 BILLION…
After
reading these stats it’s plain to see that more people
are looking for something, finding it and buying it
online than ever before.
In fact,
it is estimated that 2006 will see 200 million MORE
potential customers online and total online sales will increase
by another 20% or more (FTI Consulting).
So YES
– you CAN make money online – and YES
- there are enough customers to go around for everyone.
But the key is to play it smart!
Let’s
face it, there’s only 24 hours in a day, so you have
to use your time as effectively and as efficiently
as possible. Fail to do this and you’ll literally
‘go loopy’ with frustration – so to speak
:-)
One
reason you may not have as much time as you would like is
that perhaps you’re too busy chasing your own tail
by what we've termed as ‘idea hopping’.
(This is when you go from one idea to the next without first
giving the first idea a chance to prove itself)
Well
known marketer Jimmy Brown best describes this with
an analogy of pushing a car…
When
you first start pushing a car from a standstill it’s
hard work and at the beginning you see very little reward
for your effort. After a while someone suggests that to
get better results you should start pushing another
car instead – let’s call it car number two.
Since
the first car hasn’t moved very far, you decide to
forget the first car and move on to the second one with
the belief you’ll start to see results much quicker.
In the
meantime someone else – let’s call him Bob –
takes over from you and continues to push car number
one!
You
then don’t have much success with car number two,
so you find another car to push – car number three.
All the while Bob continues to push car number one.
Once
again you get frustrated with car number three because it
just doesn’t move as fast as you would like when you
push it. So in disgust you move on to another car,
and then another, and another.
Pretty
soon you’ve tried ten different cars and you still
haven’t travelled very far - all you’ve done
is waste your valuable time!
Meanwhile
Bob – who stuck with car number one – has momentum
on his side and is moving along very nicely. In fact
he’s gone so far down the road you can no longer see
him.
You
see, while you went from car to car because results didn’t
come fast enough for you, Bob was patient and stuck with
the first car and continued to push – and push –
and push. While he didn’t go far at first, he slowly
gained momentum and the car got faster and faster.
Do you
see where we’re going here?
If you
apply this analogy to your business you will understand
how easy it is to fall into the trap of “idea hopping”
and going from one ‘program-of-the-month’ to
the next - without first gaining some momentum in the first
program.
Can
you see why most folk quit without ever earning enough
money to take their loved ones out for dinner or to watch
a new release movie?
In order
to succeed you must have a plan in place that you
can consistently follow so that you can accomplish your
goals. If you just go out there and try to ‘wing
it’ and keep moving from one idea to the next without
a proven system, then you WILL fail.
All
it takes is one successful technique to start seeing REAL
results – and real profits. Don't think you have to
do everything at once. Choose one strategy, implement it
and get it working for you... THEN move on to the
next strategy!
Like
we mentioned earlier, with 200 million more customers,
20% more sales and more exciting developments that
will undoubtedly change the way we do business on the internet
- 2006 is shaping up to be another record-setting
year for online businesses.
But
to fully capitalize on this remarkable growth, you
need to start playing it smart and stop going for that elusive
‘home run’. So in the coming issues of
this newsletter we’re going to help you develop
a plan you can use to succeed!
We’re
going to show you exactly what you need to do in
order to develop, build and take YOUR online business to
the next level. So if you want to learn how to benefit from
the huge growth in the internet in 2006, stick around.
But
first you need to do one simple thing – find a
program, product or service that you are comfortable with
and then stick with it. Resist the urge to move on
to something else before you’ve given it a fair shot.
Next
week we will start with the first step of you 'plan',
so keep an eye out for it!
Here's
to your success in 2006 – and beyond!
